It’s our mission to benefit all the filmmakers and our guests. In order to ensure your film screens without complications we ask that you fully read the following guidelines established to better serve you and make the festival a wonderful experience for all.

 

OPENING NIGHT FILM PROGRAM #4 - Thursday, July 21st, 7:45PM

Filmmaker with badge is permitted entry. Guests are welcome if they purchase a ticket. All-access badge holders and individual ticket holders will be seated first and then Filmmakers with badges will start entering. Filmmaker admission is on a first come basis. Generally a line will start forming about 40 minutes before the start of the program. Admission is not guaranteed. 

OPENING NIGHT RECEPTION - Thursday, July 21st, 10:00PM 

Location The Federal 5303 Lankershim Blvd. North Hollywood, CA 91601

Filmmaker badge holder + guests are granted admission to the reception.

 

DO NOT SCREEN YOUR FILM IN LOS ANGELES COUNTY

Failure to comply with this requirement will result in the removal of your film from the 2022 LA Shorts lineup and official selection.

AWARDS PROGRAM #43  -  Thursday, July 28th, 9:00PM

Filmmaker badge holder is granted admission. Guests will need to purchase a ticket.

The winners will be announced during the program.  We will screen some of the winning films within a 60min program. ​

CLOSING RECEPTION

After the program concludes, there will be a the closing reception for filmmakers with badges, guest are required to purchase a admission ticket. Note this is a separate ticket from the awards program.

 

ATTENDING

All film programs have a brief informal group Q&A with filmmakers immediately following the screening. We require local filmmakers in the Los Angeles area to attend their film screening and be present for Q&A session.

FILMMAKER BADGE

You must confirm the name of the person who will be issued the Filmmaker Badge by Tuesday, July 12th, 5:00 PM  Email info@lashortsfest.com first and last name, include the title of your film. 

 

One ‘filmmaker’ badge will be issued per film.  If your film has more than one director or producer you must select ONLY one rep to receive the ‘filmmaker’ badge.

 

Your badge may be picked up at the festival information table located inside the Laemmle NoHo Theater lobby. During the festival operational hours 12:45 PM - 9:00 PM (or just prior to our film screening) on July 21-28 . Photo I.D. is required. Filmmaker badge entitles badge holder + 1  guest to attend the program featuring their film. Guests must be accompanied by filmmaker with badge. 

 

Filmmakers with badge are welcome to attend other film programs but seating is NOT guaranteed. Individuals who have purchased tickets/passes will be granted theater access first. Once everyone has been seated in theater, filmmakers wishing to attend other film programs will be allowed in from “rush line”.

                                    

If a filmmaker will not be attending and would like to give his badge to another member of the production it must be cleared by LA Shorts staff prior to the start of the festival. A photo ID, matching the name cleared by our office, must be shown at the time of badge pick-up.

RUSH LINE

If a film program is listed as SOLD OUT on our website, you can still try for tickets in person by joining the rush line at the theater venue.

 

Rush Line will start forming 40 minutes before the film program starts at the theater venue. After an empty seat count, just a few minutes before the screening, spare tickets will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis to those waiting in the rush line.

 

Films do NOT screen in order listed on our website. Be sure to arrive on time and be seated in theater at the start of each program. This will ensure you do not miss the film your film.

POSTERS & POSTCARDS 

Posters and postcards can be displayed at theater venue during the festival July 21-28.

Film posters must be mounted on foam board, you will need to bring your own easel. Postcards - You are welcome and encouraged to bring postcards. We will have one table dedicated for film postcards at the theater venue.

When you promote your film official selection using LA Shorts laurels please do NOT include laurels from other festivals/awards you have participated in previously or upcoming.

SCREENING FORMAT: DIGITAL CINEMA PACKAGE (DCP) 

The official DCP provider of the 2022 LA Shorts is Simple DCP. If you already have a DCP, please let them know and send them your unencrypted DCP file. If you don’t have a DCP, they can create one for you.  If you would like your source materials returned please make sure to specify that on the form below.

 

Digital Cinema Packages (DCPs) should be submitted directly to Simple DCP. Please fill out the form located here https://www.simpledcp.com/lasff2022 Upon completion of the form you will be given upload portals to submit your files.

DCP's must be received by Simple DCP, no later July 1st DCP’s not received by Simple DCP by this deadline will NOT be screened and removed from the official film line-up.

 

SHIPPING POLICY

If you mail any materials to Simple DCP you MUST email us the shipping date and tracking number. Each filmmaker is solely responsible for all shipping fees incurred both to and from Simple DCP. Packages not paid for in full will not be accepted.

 

It's important you LABEL your media (USBs, DCP drives) properly. Label should include: FILM TITLE, YOUR NAME, EMAIL & PHONE.

LA Shorts International Film Festival has partnered with Simple DCP to handle all film print deliveries this year. Please read the below instructions carefully to ensure we receive your film:

 

Steps to Submit Your Film: 

 

Simple DCP will offer our filmmakers a 20% discount on DCP creation services and complimentary archival services. There will be no charge for filmmakers who submit a compatible, pre-existing DCP to Simple DCP.

 

Whether you submit a current DCP to Simple DCP or have your DCP created with Simple DCP, your DCP can also be quickly and affordably delivered to other festivals and venues. Every DCP in the Simple DCP archive will be integrated into partner festivals free of charge. 

 

For this year’s LA Shorts International Film Festival, Simple DCP will collect, create (if necessary), test, and ship all DCPs to the exhibition venue in an organized and efficient fashion.  Please see below each step to complete the process:

 

1.  Fill out your print submission form. Use the following LA Shorts print submission link to notify Simple DCP as to whether you need them to create a DCP for you OR you are simply sending them a pre-existing 3rd party DCP via this link: https://www.simpledcp.com/lasff2022

 

2.  Send your film to Simple DCP. After completing the above print submission form, you must send your film directly to Simple DCP. The portal will instruct you how to deliver your content based on your preferred delivery method. You must complete the print submission form and upload/ship your material to Simple DCP via the above link no later than June 24.Discounts on the Simple DCP service will end after JUNE 24 and consolidation fees will be assessed on films submitted after JULY 14. 

 

3. Simple DCP will then create all new DCPs and gather all pre-existing 3rd party DCPs and perform QA tests to ensure that each film will screen without any unforeseen playback issues.

 

4. Once QA checks have been completed, Simple DCP will ship all films directly to the venue.
