Last year's festival screened over 700 films and drew more than 10,000 moviegoers, filmmakers, and entertainment executives. Through film screenings and panel discussions our filmmakers have an opportunity to interact with their peers, to network with the industry, and to entertain audiences. LA Shorts Fest is recognized by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences.

In addition to celebrating the short film, each year LA Shorts Fest honors distinguished directors and actors. Past recipients include Tim Burton, Jan de Bont, Bryan Singer, Paul Haggis, Robert Wise, Charles Chaplin, Harold Lloyd, James Woods, Martin Landau, and Gary Oldman.
LA Shorts Fest is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization.
Currently entering its eleventh year, LA Shorts Fest is dedicated to the celebration and cultivation of the short film. Through a variety of yearlong activities, LA Shorts Fest educates, entertains, and honors those who have mastered the craft of the short film.
