2006 “Maverick Film Achievement Award”

PAUL HAGGIS
BIOGRAPHY

The third recipient of the “Maverick Film Achievement Award” embodies the spirit of the award through his work, vision and commitment to the art of filmmaking.

In 2006 Paul became the first person in the history of the Academy Awards to write two back-to-back Best Picture Winners, Crash and last year's winner, Million Dollar Baby.

Crash, a movie Paul co-wrote, directed and produced, was nominated for six Academy Awards, and on that evening Paul took home both Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay Oscars.
